The Avalon Adventure
Day One:
We arrive in St. John’s and transfer to our hotel.
Day Two:
We begin our day with a leisurely morning, followed by a City Tour and a free afternoon to explore the colourful streets and culture of our historic capital city. This evening, we’ll have our welcome dinner at a local restaurant to experience the culinary delights of St. John’s.
Day Three:
Today we will explore the Avalon Peninsula, beginning with a visit to Heart’s Content, the site of the first Trans-Atlantic cable that revolutionized communication between two worlds. Our next visit will be the charming walking town of Brigus, home to the legendary Arctic Explorer Bob Bartlett. We return to St. John’s in the late afternoon for a leisurely evening.
Day Four:
Our morning will begin with a drive along the scenic Irish Loop. This coastal trail features spectacular scenery and takes you to the Irish heart of Newfoundland and Labrador; some say it’s even more Irish than Ireland itself. We will continue to Ferryland and explore the Colony of Avalon, established in 1621. After visiting the museum and the historic Ferryland lighthouse, we’ll enjoy a delicious lighthouse picnic before returning to our hotel. Evening at leisure.
Day Five:
First, we’ll visit and explore Cape Spear, North America’s most easterly point. Then we continue to Bay Bulls, embarking on a marine adventure to the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve. Here we witness the habitat of millions of seabirds, including the Atlantic Puffin, the provincial bird of Newfoundland. There are also ample opportunities for whale sightings depending on the season. After some free time, take in one last farewell dinner at a lovely restaurant followed by live local entertainment.
Day Six:
We say goodbye and a fond farewell to the many experiences and everlasting memories of the Avalon Adventure.
